Most welcome to the next Software Center lunch seminar on May 2nd. The seminar is hosted by theme 4 (‘Customer Data and Ecosystems’), and we have the privilege to welcome Dr. Sami Hyrynsalmi, LUT as our speaker.
Speaker: Dr. Sami Hyrynsalmi, Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology LUT in Lahti, Finland
During the last decade, ecosystems become a new standard way of working for businesses. Instead of working alone, companies are working together in loose networks for adding their strengths together. Yet, ecosystems still pose a number of open questions. This presentation takes a look on two rather different cases. The first part covers the ‘ecosystem health’ metaphor, its problems, and possible solutions. The second part takes a look how the ecosystem approach could perhaps be utilized in the data economy as a way to create new revenue out of existing data.
Dr. Sami Hyrynsalmi works as an Associate Professor of Software Engineering in Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology LUT in Lahti, Finland. He received a degree of Doctor of Science from University of Turku in 2014 and was granted the Title of Docent in Software Production and Business from the same university in 2020. Currently, he leads a Master’s Program on Software Product Management and Business in Lahti and acts as the vice-head of the Software Engineering Department. His research interests cover software business, especially software ecosystems and understanding the business potential of emerging technologies.
