From operational data to business insights: It’s as much about mindset as it is about data

Abstract: “It’s all about data” has become a common saying to strengthen the power it has in today’s world. Many software-intensive companies have started to collect operational data of their products deployed in production. However, this data is not worth anything if you cannot make actual use of it. This talk covers our experiences and challenges at Siemens in using operational data to generate insights for business functions like product management or sales. A few real-world examples will be shared to highlight the technical and B2B-specific challenges as well as the collaboration and communication with business stakeholders.
